  Really cool and unique little film, but one I don't ever feel fully emotionally connected to. It was a really cool idea to combine a writer biopic with an adaptation of a novel that has nothing to do with said writer. This allows the movie to always feel like it's moving in unexpected directions.   Brian Duffield and Samara Weaving's names on this were enough to get me to watch this opening weekend, and I'm glad I did. Even though Duffield was just a producer on this, it was still very fun and very creative like most of Duffield's projects. I had no idea what it was about going in, and the first act was pretty engaging, and Weaving was incredible as always. The movie does unfortunately get stuck in one location, and becomes predictable by the third act, but it's still a really fun and memorable movie.

The director came out after the film and made a joke that the film was designed to get Elizabeth Moss a role as the Joker in the next Batman movie, and while he may have been joking, there is some truth to that.
