A new favourite film - the pace, cinematography, and performance by the lead make for a really compelling and thought/conversation provoking watch.

I adore the moments of reflection, and intimate social interactions via the tiniest of facial and body movements.

Such a nice viewpoint of Tokyo street life too. Highly recommended.

The stunning soundtrack does a lot of the heavy lifting, with brutally loud war soundscapes, and perfectly timed musical interludes.

The visual violence was a lot to take, but necessary to purvey the journalist’s perspective of the end result of the polarisation of politics and ideology. War must be avoided at all cost, and divisive politics are pointless.

Powerful, heartbreaking, but required viewing for all white Australians. Articulates the failure of government policy on many levels.

While France burns in our current timeline this snapshot of 1995 shows that we haven’t learnt and changed enough to avoid the same deadly loops of hate and revenge.
