"Adjani 'creates' a monster, to the consternation of husband Neill, lover Bennent—and the viewer."
    - Leonard Maltin

Intriguing, revolting, funny, and most of all, extremely confusing. Scatterblast vagueness masquerading as depth, and drags ass the whole time; doesn't even get into the meat of it until 50 minutes in adn the whole thing is far too long. Reminiscent of Suspiria (1977) with wild music, bizarre acting, erratic direction, and the setting of West Berlin at the wall. What the fuck. One for the weirdos.

An assault on the senses that makes you feel way too high, nothing new comes after the first hour: and it's a long one. Funny moments but it balances absurdity with incessant syrupy sentimentality. Still don't really get it. Good performances though.

Most memorable moment of the night was the trailer that preceded the film vaguely showing menacing figures haunting a woman, only to have a huge reveal of the title, MEN, which caused the theater to erupt in laughter against utter muffled silence.
