  This short rivals Сталкер [Stalker] and La Planète Sauvage regarding the deep originality of its visionary visuals.
  The black and white alien landscapes are actually heavily based on the geometrical/surreal paintings of Anatoly Fomenko (b.1945) who was a Moscow-based scholar in the fields of mathematics and topology… and also a pseudo-historian who shaped the fringe conspiracy theory known as New Chronology (!)

  Powerful and devastating allegory about human condition, life in society (and Japan). The striking score by Toru Takemitsu equals the performances of the 2 main actors, and the brilliant cinematography (beautiful black & white, great photography, unforgettable scenes, etc).

  Lots of poetic moments, with some nice dream-like scenes (ie. the celebration in the buried forest), but the movie wanders a bit too much.
