I had very high hopes for this movie. It presented itself as a visually spectacular story based on the works of Mary Shelley, specifically Frankenstein. The movie pays homage to this quite well, with it’s dark tone, morally ambiguous plot, and reference to it’s source material through a black and white filter- which lifts soon after, almost in a Wizard of Oz type style. However, the story disregards everything great the film does for one thing: sex.
