  Not gonna win any storytelling awards but it's sweet and cute, funny in the right places, dramatic in others. I was immediately endeared to it with its beautiful opening credits using background art from the rest of the film, which is stylized beautifully, and crisp enough on film that the viewer can make out the texture of the canvas beneath.   The Spirit of the Beehive 1973

  A portrait of a family post Spanish civil war, an artful depiction of a child's loss of innocence. The film is visually warm and totally cold. Everyone is dressed in jackets, the wind is billowing, but appears to have the quality of a constant sunrise. Like a snap, it grows dark.
  Memorizing filmmaking. Down with the fascists.

  red started out as an interesting character depicted with a real understanding of the south but then it dive bombed into the bottom of B-movies. amateurish but not so endearing, no characters to latch onto.
