I enjoyed the film and maybe have a bit of a better understanding about what helped shape him but I think that quite a few creative liberties must have been taken (particularly about his political ambitions) and whether they are real or not they felt forced and took me out of the film. But it is definitely worth a watch and it is something I will re-watch. Jeremy Strong’s dead-eyed Roy Cohn is definitely a highlight but Sebastian Stan was a good Trump and didn’t turn him into a caricature which it would have been easy to do.

North by Northwest 1959
I’ve not watched North by Northwest for a few years but I have just bought the 4K Blu-ray so had a couple of hours of sheer joy re-watching it and it looking and sounding better than ever.
It’s probably a bit slow for my daughter’s generation but it’s a beautifully shot film with a wonderful cast and a great story and so I hope that as she gets older she, and people like her, will discover it too.

Star Trek: Section 31 2025
I knew very little about this before I watched it other fact that I’d liked the character of Empress Georgiou in Star Trek: Discovery. Now that I have seen it I like the character a little less and feel that the film makers really dropped the ball. It was a diverting 90 minutes but it was not really much more than some paint-by-numbers action and could have been any space-based action film rather than adding to the Star Trek canon.
