It looks great, it sounds great, but it's almost a complete failure. The songs function so badly and inconsistently throughout that none of them feel necessary.* They only distract from the characters and plot, making the movie feel like a horror adaption of the 2004 comedy. Reneé Rapp is Oscar-worthy as Regina, but even she couldn't save the movie.
*My rule of thumb: if you get annoyed every time a character starts singing, then it shouldn't be a musical.
