Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion 1997
an absolutely mind-boggling, provocative, existential, genre defying film— a deserving end to a masterpiece of a tv show, a narrative taken directly from the brilliant mind if Hideaki Anno. although a simplistic anime at first glance, the story develops themes of religion, freudian and jungian philosophy, and the human relationships, culminating in a powerful crescendo, stretching the boundaries of animation to their limits, while delivering powerful emotion beats that stay with the audience, long after first viewing. Following three young protagonists, this show set a standard for all anime to follow.
