round 2 knowing what the movie was more and there was not enough song and dance numbers. i genuinely can’t think of a better dance number in a film than i’m just ken
also the movie does have something interesting to say about play and toys! the movie treats drawing barbie at the same level as playing with the toy, the doll is at equal importance to just thinking about barbie and that rules and is a compelling framing device for people’s relationships with playing and toys, and the way it doesn’t change as much as we think.

definitely a movie for people who haven’t thought about barbie since they were kids. it’s a great comedy but i wish it was marketed as a comedy, because if you go in expecting more you’ll probably be disappointed. there’s more than jokes, but it succeeds at being funny more than much else.
