    This has certainly got to be one of the most beautiful cartoon shorts I've ever seen, steeped in an angular Art Deco style that I love. Apparently, this was only the third short directed by the genius Tex Avery, and while it's short on the non-stop gags and dark humor that he would become known for, it more than makes up for it with its vibrant, eye-catching visuals, graceful fluidity of movement and abundance of charm. This is perhaps the first cartoon short I've seen thus far that makes me want to live in the universe it creates, which is no small feat.

    The "OH, FRANKIE!" one.

    Another classic Looney Tunes short that I probably haven't seen in decades. This is notable for many reasons, first and foremost being just how downright horny it is, especially for 1944. To my mind, there's also an impressive level of implied cynicism on display here, which is something that I think runs through a lot of these old Looney Tunes cartoons and really makes them stand up over time.

    I'd completely forgotten that Porky Pig makes…
