Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire

Look, it's not great, but anybody who thinks this deserves a lower RT score than the movies with CGI Zombie Christopher Reeve and Awkwafina-bird rapping about her butt should never have an opinion again.

Like Dune, it clearly suffers from Part One syndrome in that it's mostly exposition and universe-building with no real character development (but that was magically ok when Dune did it). But it's still better than any of the Star Wars sequels, in that I'm actually curious to know where it goes from here.

Why is Idris Elba afraid of rodents? I saw Cats; he should be eating those fuckers.

There's tons of fun to be had in The Suicide Squad, and most of the new characters won me over, but honestly, I'm intensely bothered by how this movie (like Wonder Woman 84) seems to be made with total disregard if not outright contempt for the movies that came before it.

Say what you want about the first Suicide Squad movie, but it's pretty…

    Dalmatians killed her mother.

No, that's not a joke. That's seriously how they attempt to justify making yas-queen female empowerment bullshit about a lady who kidnaps and skins newborn puppies.

    DALMATIANS KILLED HER MOTHER.

Someone was paid millions of dollars to write this. It was produced, given a $200 million budget, filmed, and it got GOOD REVIEWS.
