  This was always the movie that was played in my elementary school on a random Friday. And I think my initial lower ranking of this movie was housed in my deep-rooted discomfort in lizards and slimy overbearing white adults. But I have now grown to appreciate the subtle humor throughout this film and its portrayal of the importance of friendship and resilience in youth (minus the child labor).
