The Zone of Interest 2023
I appreciated the subtle/not subtle horror of existing as monsters. The banality of it all was horrible to view through the story of this family. It’s left me thinking for days after—especially in light of then genocide in Gaza. One side of the wall people are being brutally murdered while on the other there are raves and “idealistic” communes and families blatantly ignoring death and destruction because it does not concern them.
