The Hidden Fortress 1958
Incredible movie, the peasant characters were funny and bounced well off of Toshiro Mifune's character, but by far the princess was the best character in the movie, similarly to how Princess Leia is my favourite character in star wars, which was heavily inspired by this movie, in case the internet hasn't told you that 100 million times. Jokes aside, genuinely a great movie and I can see why George Lucas was inspired after seeing this movie.

Yojimbo 1961
Simply an incredible film on its own, and an excellent introduction to the works of Akira Kurosawa. I watched it with my brother and it made for a wonderful group watch experience, he and I particularly liked the swordfight choreography, the characters, and most importantly, how the main character just kept getting free food for some unknown reason.
Highly recommend, especially as a first Kurosawa film.Translated from by
