The amount of symbolism is insane. The entire story is just one huge allegory and it's impossible to miss. Holy moly.

I was first shown this film when I was only ten or eleven and it is the first piece of media ever to make me cry. I hadn't seen enough films to be able to predict the twist and I swear it kickstarted the development of my frontal lobe. This film genuinely changed me and little me felt so much agonizing empathy. 10/10 no notes.
