This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
while this was quite fun as advertised, it was also much more earnest and emotional than i anticipated. deeply human. sometimes a little too on the nose. wishing it was slightly sharper narratively! (all the side characters felt like they were missing some development?)
shoutout to naomi ackie, who basically stole every scene she was in, and to true ride or die lover representation.
bottoms up, we got the good stuff (chrysanthemum tea)
three select times i teared up:
- kai's earthy tender offering of 菊花茶
- almost everytime a baby creeper was in frame
- when nasha held mickey in the gas. peak romanceTranslated from by
