This was a nice return to the classic plot - we’re stuck on a ship with aliens. Standout character was definitely Andy, the synthetic who navigates the awkward spot between tool and family member. I thought his character was written well and performed excellently.

What a tender examination of the great what-ifs of a life. This subtle story introduces this rather Eurocentric viewer to a softer version of fate than the typical “anything for love” version of destiny I often see in movies and novels. I loved the film’s acknowledgment that any big decision, no matter how full of joy and hope, is likely to also offer the chooser some grief, because choosing one thing, or path, or relationship, is so often also not choosing another. My heart broke for each of the three characters (all played by super actors) in this stirring little bit of realism. Recommended by Alice.

A smart, nostalgic film that is almost all vibes. When I watched it, I was looking forward to more suspense, fun scares and some of the plot-forward beats of more traditional horror stories. So it was a somewhat disappointing watch. But the more I sit with this, the more I appreciate - particularly its amazing use of light and color (that fruitopia vending machine was 🔥). And the themes really resonated with this 90s child - the otherwordliness of a…
