Desperately wanted to enjoy this but I think I severely underestimated the baggage a 160 minute carries. My expectations were that Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande would body this and I’d leave loving a handful of musical numbers (even then No One Mourns the Wicked and What Is This Feeling are the only standouts), so I wasn’t disappointed more so flabbergasted by all the sludge that surrounds the highlights. Jon M. Chu is buns.

should’ve expected everything to be spoon-fed to me when the movie’s main demographic is kids in diapers 😓😓😓

Scream VI 2023
Abandons the franchise’s metatextuality to focus on tropey sisterhood and relationship drama, inching the franchise even closer into self-parody. Even compared to its predecessor, this one is especially toothless and has lost a lot of the playfulness that has always made the Scream movies unique. There’s hardly any jabs at the current horror-landscape, lacks any visual flair, and (like the last one) is petrified of actually killing it’s characters off. Figuring out who’s behind the mask isn’t an exercise anymore…
