Anora 2024
Very effective and impressive balancing of discomfort and humour, almost slapstick in certain moments. I do think the choice of leaving more questions instead of answers works wonderfully for Igor’s presence and person, but didn’t really work re Anora’s desire to stay married, which goes completely unexplained. This explanation that the audience has to infer is disappointing and falls short, as if her job encompasses her entire life. Then you wonder, why did Baker even include scenes from Anora’s house…
