  A good war movie covering the understudied (at least in English) Spanish civil war through the eyes of an English communist David Carr, who goes to Spain to fight. I liked that the combat wasn’t the real focus of the film, but rather the disillusionment with political ideals as the left continued to fracture between Stalinists, socialists, and communists failing to reach an agreement and end up fighting amongst each other rather than the overall enemy of fascism.
