  rachel zegler is so good at acting against nothing, but i really wish she could act against real things. 

  better than the average disney remake! that isn’t saying much, though.

  the near silent dinner between husband and wife followed by the drop of “80% of chinese women dislike their husbands” - reader, i laughed. 

  i do think there’s an argument to be made that this could have used a little more geopolitical context, but i sort of like the fact that it gives you what you need to know and leaves the focus solely on dating. it was funny, poignant, and it feels like there’s actual growth happening with the people we’re seeing onscreen. i really
  enjoyed this.
