  The Five Devils 2022

  A beautifully shot film, with highlights in the nightclub scene.

  Seeing around the inside corner of Vicki’s sunglasses through to her eyes is one of my favourite compositions to work around an object that cinematically, only functions to conceal emotions. 

  There are a lot of questions left open from this film that can never really be addressed and I think that’s kind of its downfall but at the same time… it’s a lot more of a fantasy film than initially suggested.

  The Cameraman 1928

  I think what's most disappointing of this feature is the lack of imagination Keaton had when thinking of all the various dangerous situations a cameraman could face and not doing them. No sitting on the front of trains getting the perfect footage or balancing on a plane, it's mostly a romance and Keaton's pining for Marceline Day's affection. 

  The funny moments are still funny, specifically the constantly shattering office door every time Keaton walks through it, but none take the fullest advantage of a cameraman's risks are utilised which makes the title of the movie and expectations plummet throughout.
