This feels like a leaked student film with some horrific acting from just randos they pulled off the street to be in their student movie. But with a huge budget and a super jacked Skarsgard. And someone was happy to release it.

There is a really good version of this film somewhere.
    This isn’t it.

    Just watch The Raid 2.

    I mean….it’s alright.

Did it need to be nearly 4 hours long? No.
Did it tell a compelling story in those 4 hours? No.
Did it get some amazing acting moments? Meh.
Did it THINK it was doing something monumental? Yep.
    Was it? No.

The irony is brutalist architecture trims the fat and the excess and the decadence. This film leaves all the fat on and suffers for it.

There is a 2 hour concise and brutalist cut of this film that’s a 10/10 brilliant film. This ain’t it.

An eloquent review might say it’s an extremely dumbed take on gender autonomy, poorly told with cringe worthy dialogue and a fixation on excessive violence towards the main female lead which under psychological examination would show that it was less about a statement and more about a warning sign.

A more accurate description that a far wiser person coined: “gash.”

Turns out Barbarian couldn’t nail the landing, Companion couldn’t nail not being absolute horse shit.

Who took Jugheads “in case you haven’t noticed, I’m weird. I’m a weirdo” speech and thought ‘I’ll make the worst ghost movie with horrific badly acted characters and a camera where no one fixed rolling/distortion flex on the edges and then it into one of the worst movies ever’? Bad. Bad film makers. No more. Burn your scripts.
