Deplorable. I don’t know how people can even call this watered down feminism as i think it is far more insidious than that. Idc that its just supposed to be “fun” or its just a commercial so you cant take it too seriously or whatever and this seems like an especially weird ask for a movie that somehow gets to be both. Gets to be praised for its feminist message and also protected against any criticism because it’s apparently not…

Thinking about the motif of the butterflies, a motif which was also used in Lolita and though for a similar reason, comes to a completely different effect here. There are the comparisons of fragility, youth, puberty, innocence, quite literally coming out of a claustrophobic space and into ones own that makes the butterfly an obvious choice for these “stories” and here, reality. But where Nabokov uses the butterfly as a symbol of H.H.’s evil and of Lolita’s entrapment, in this movie…
