Rating will likely improve on a rewatch, lots to unpack, lots I'm sure I didn't notice (can only assume as this was the case with Parasite)

Shame Mark Ruffalo keeps getting put alongside great actors, makes him stick out like a sore thumb. Though, I'm unsure if the character he's playing recently just doesn't resonate with me?? It's not that I'm unable to enjoy an unlikeable characters performance, so it definitely could just be him.

Key and Turgoose were unexpected and they beyond delivered!

Collette, Vartolomei, Ackie, Ferran and Pattison worked together incredibly.

A great film of the characters-more-important-and-ultimately-more-interesting-than-the-plot subgenre. Real, relaxing, subtle. Bodes well for Eisenberg's future. Culkin is perfect (move aside Zach Galifianakis).

Edit: oh and it was funny as fuck

This film truly sits somewhere between 3.5 and 4. I am giving it 4 because 3.5 feels like a disservice more than 4 feels like an overstatement.

In preparation for finally having the opportunity to see this film, I re-read Queer today. I can't recommend it enough, I think that book and this film engulf you in a way that is truly beautiful and to do both in the same day only intensifies that effect.

    Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey…
