The Rurouni Kenshin series, while strong conceptually, never really shows you its narrative more than it tells you everything in extended, slow, detail, and The Final definitely suffers from a lot of melodrama. But fuckin that doesn't matter, because the pace of the action is so immaculate and the last series of battles features the absolute best sword battles ever to be put on camera - this whole series is generally slept on, but for any western fans who love John Wick, then in modern cinema this string of five movies is the absolute next best thing
Okay so the criticisms are pretty spot-on, but in terms of just sheer spectacle and imagination this is perfect 60s-70s Showa-era Godzilla of absolutely crazy plots and shit and monsters getting together in a big ol' Fortnite battle royale. But this film includes the strongest directorial element of the whole Monsterverse, and something people are missing for easy criticism of its human cast, is that a majority of the film is centered on these extended, dialogue-less moments with Kong, without…
