Pretty good overview of Obama era immigration discourse. I would recommend to anyone struggling to keep up with the disgusting actions being taken by the current administration. (Keep in mind, both republicans and democrats are anti immigration. They just have different strategies for communicating that) Supremely, capitalism is the root cause of all injustice and the conservative and liberal interviewees in this film both come to that truth in their own ways, whether they meant to or not (looking at you Center for Immigration Studies talking head). The question we now need to ask, what is to be done?
Pretty fun! Hugh Grant is spooky, the lead actresses were great. It was a fun small ensemble film that is carried by the actors for sure. Religion commentary can sometimes get cringe or edgy but I thought this was navigated in a way that served the overall terror Grant’s character was delivering. (My standard for horror x religion is Midnight Mass) Also, I couldn’t help but feel some similar vibes to Barbarian. The story took turns I wasn’t anticipating and…
