the united states military has been one of the greatest forces of evil in this world for over half a century. it is a well oiled machine that uses propagandized fools and disenfranchised minorities as fuel for untold atrocities around the globe. the way it chews up and spits out veterans is not a bug in the system, it is a feature of it. the military itself is the root cause of every bit of suffering portrayed in this film but it refuses to confront that fact with any honesty.

Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion 1997
this film has impacted me more than any other piece of art ever has. it's a bitterly hopeful movie, it simultaneously feels like a desperate plea from anno and a roiling pot of frustration boiling over and scalding you. it's beautifully acted, composed, animated, and directed. as close to a perfect piece of art (in my opinion) that ive ever been lucky enough to experience.
