  this was far from a bad movie, but i’m hard pressed to give it a “like” after having read the novel it’s based on, Erasure by Percival Everett—you could argue that Erasure is one of those books that seems impossible to adapt, due the way that language and prose are deployed in the novel. but beyond that, the movie makes some questionable choices in rearranging the order of events or reimagining scenes, seemingly in the interest of making them more cinematic. 

  talented work from the filmmakers and cast, but it feels like some richness was lost in the liberties taken by the adaptation.
