A minimalistic masterpiece that is as subtly breathtaking and exquisitely ravishing as the title suggests.

Much like The Exorcist and Cats, I feel like St. Peter might not allow anyone passage into Heaven if they’ve ever watched this film.

The only thing this endearing and heartfelt children's classic is missing is an extra twenty or thirty minutes. If you're like me, you'll be filled with tears of joy throughout and ready to hug complete strangers by the end.

Most people are going to (and have already) cast this film into the kitschy pile without giving it proper analysis. Inspired by low-budget cult classics and grind house flicks, director/writer Panos Cosmatos composes a phantasmagorical heavy metal opera based on toxic masculinity that challenges outdated film tropes found in the very films it champions.

So, place your tongue firmly in cheek and check your biases at the door because Mandy is an unnerving, psychedelic trip into the bowls of hell and back... and it’s not for everyone.
