Tangerine 2015
Sean Baker makes movies about *people*. Not idealized versions of people whose words and actions are perfectly curated by a writer or director, but real fucking people that you could meet anywhere. Tangerine does this perfectly. The emotional beats hit so hard because the characters feel like people you actually know. Sin-Dee and Alexandra’s friendship feels so human, so authentic, that you almost forget you’re not watching a documentary.
I know this movie takes place in LA but it deserves an honorary spot in the Florida Cinematic Universe
