Revenge as an MTV music video. Pulses of anguish and regret burst through the celluloid as Denzel's Creasy arranges his meeting with death. Scott's action is as propulsive and urgent as it is fiercely grim, woven between the shards of a life no longer desired.

Wasn't expecting Eastwood to make something this engaging out of a paperback premise, but here we are. Starts out as a nuts-and-bolts courtroom thriller which hits all the necessary beats, but then becomes a thoughtful morality play on the contradiction between American loyalties to family, justice and God. There's nothing visually groundbreaking here, but a tight script and sturdy performances lift this above your average thriller. Really enjoyed it.

Die Hard 2 1990
Snow + Bruce Willis murdering dozens of bad guys = Christmas. Some very nice looking explosions for a 90s film. Not quite as cool as the first and the plot is ridiculous but it's a lot of fun. Compulsory Christmas viewing.
