got to see this at the violet crown for another installment of their flashback cinema thingy! imo this holds up and i’m not just saying that because this is peak jake gyllenhaal to me. when the violet crown shows these “flashback” movies, there’s this sequence at the beginning where this guy talks a little bit about the production of the movie and the context of its release. i think it’s really neat how this movie was crowdfunded and drew barrymore…

saw the extended edition for the first time ever at the violet crown! and wowowow it truly was the biggest treat to see this movie on a big screen :) this one is probably my favorite out of the trilogy (although fellowship is close) it’s so sad that the original theatrical version cut out so much merry and pippin silly time!! like actually they did not spend 4/5ths of the movie on treebeard’s back!!! they took an important nap in the middle and argued about who’s taller!!!!!
