  a perfectly pint-sized hero’s journey: third graders in tiny sweater vests, mixing up people with the same last name, doors obscuring and revealing, breaking the rules to help your friend with a scraped knee 🏃‍♂️

  my enjoyment of this was certainly helped by the live accompaniment and packed theater cackling along, but I have been charmed by clara bow. she really does have it!

  Disappointed, but not really surprised. Of course the year’s most mega-capitalist endeavor failed to subvert the system that it is so deeply entrenched in.

  I found that the bits mostly didn’t land for me, the message of it all pretty hollow, and the character development quite weak. I mainly just felt icky with the whole Mattel of it all — using ironic winks and shrugs and “oopsies” to wash themselves clean and go sell more toys, more Zara collabs destined…
