The white machines and signage of the laundromat, which to me represents the drabness of settling down/a traditional married life, taking over the bright colours of the umbrella store, which was always kind of an idealistic concept, is so bleak. And I guess demy’s point could be that it may feel that way until inevitably you and everything changes but there’s a desperation to the decision making in the movie that makes me uncertain of how real that change is to him
