Somehow, the magical opening 10 minutes of this movie contains a complete love story. Then it’s pure chaotic joy for the rest of the movie. The energy and pace is phenomenal. There’s not a lazy moment, as we’re bombarded with perfect gags, jokes, set pieces, and performances—especially Nicolas Cage and John Goodman. And then when it ends—just as magically—we’re transported back to the love story. And now we know this place for the first time. This was always a story about two dreamers, pouring everything they have into their one shot at happiness, hoping it’s enough to do the trick.
