could've gotten higher if some scenes didn't drag out but wow. that ending was. wow. i don't even know guys. this was really good

Blade Runner 1982
it's funny we're still supposed to think deckard is a cool suave noir detective after he spends all film sticking his tongue out when he gets scared. i think all cyberpunk is tropey and cringe but at least BR1982 plays around a little with it (Make Cyberpunk Weird Again). i love the soundtrack and set design but i do wish they remembered to do something with the plot direction. you couldn't convince me of the romance if you held a gun to my head free my girl rachael she deserves to be put in a better movie

watched it again and the magic's died a bit—maybe whiplash is meant to only be watched once. maybe, like destroying yourself for art, it seems silly when you step back and view it from the outside in. i think it was the novelty that got me the first time around, of never having watched something like this (black swan doesn't count, not really), the frustration of deep down rooting for a protagonist i can't stand because i want the destruction…
