This movie isn’t as bad as people are making it sound.  They are drawing comparisons to Midsommar and Blink Twice, movies that I’m not crazy about that I gave 2 1/2 stars to each when they came out.  This one has more panache, probably driven the most by Malkovich.  The script could be better, less boring and it could dig a little deeper with more complexity but I think it’s still clever.

It’s cool because it’s based on a true story.  The writing and tone of the film reminded me of the movie Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken which is a Disney film.  Not that this is sunshine and roses because it’s not, it can get dark, it just seems a little amateur and cookie cutter at times.

The performances are good but the editing was driving me nuts.

This movie is about tragedy. This movie is about desire. And at the center is a very strange, very brave little boy. I loved the little boy in this movie more than anything else.

    Must see.

What makes The Revenant so special is the way it was shot. This is a film that screams "I am Cinema Hear Me Roar". And roar it does, because there is a tremendous amount of pain and redemption in this movie. In an interview with The Guardian director Alejandro G Inarritu describes this film as a "spiritual drama, a story of survival and transcendence". I think that in general that is the biggest takeaway once you complete the almost 3…
