That last look on Fletcher’s eyes was when he finally got his approval after a dragging power struggle. Fletcher saw his internal conflict and manipulated it. I’m conflicted if his intent is to subject another person to his hunger for perfection or to transform another to reach their personal glory.

What an unsettling and tragic story.
Although the book was written from the eyes of Humbert, Jeremy Irons played his character with effortless charisma ensuring that the audience sticks to his side. I felt for him, which is problematic since he’s a child predator.
Dominique Swain made Lolita a playful character. Appropriate amount of child-like spirit. Coquette.
Great acting from everyone. Hair and Make-up stood out to me the most - simple (like Lolita’s plain red lipstick) but effective.
