Captivating, intense - one of the best Tom Hardy performances you’re likely to see. Winding Refn got a lot right here, and my only real criticisms are that the ensemble cast is practically invisible, paired with a surprising period of relative dullness. That being said, definitely worth a watch, a lot of ground is covered in a relatively short run time

For my money this is the best film of the 21st century - expertly woven in themes of fate and free will that constantly leaves the viewer on the edge of their seat, and a stunning cast + performance from Javier Bardem makes this my favourite movie of all time
