Equally uncomfortable and beautiful movie, very-very well deserved Oscar for Culkin because he would drive me BATSHIT as my friend/family. Eisenberg won't get his due credit here but his foil to Culkin's rollercoaster personality swings is exceptional. The ups and downs of each character's approaches to life and pain are on full display, and while Culkin's rawness is the focus, you can't completely hide behind Eisenberg's superiority of moderation. Sometimes the moderate is the real asshole of the bunch.

Haunting. Your mind conjures images of the devastation to match the sounds, yet the family acts like nothing is amiss. In total it’s a technically brilliant film that uses sound almost as a supporting character and meditates on the willful ignorance of humanity. Horrifying.
