No Country for Old Men 2007
I feel like I only take the time to review the good films I’ve watched, and this is no exception. I wonderfully filmed adaption of a novel. The casting cannot be more unbelievably talented and fitting. It felt like one long poem that will have to be repeatedly watched to grasp in entirety. Tommy Lee Jones’ best work. Javier Bardem was chilling and blank. The role was made for him. Josh Brolin built up all the trust you could desire. You believe him. This will be a movie I return to.

Arrival 2016
Thoroughly enjoyed the confusion and wonder. It is a beautiful film with twists and revelations. Amy Adams was shockingly good. I have been hesitant to commit to watching because of a lack of interest in the cast, but 100% worth the watch. I love he minds that created the concept and completion. Best “alien” movie I have seen in a long time.

Top Gun 1986
So, this is 5th in my top 5. It’s one of the most fun and epic movies of all time. Tom Cruise plays himself if he was a pilot, so it’s a believable and redeemable story. The on screen chemistry is real. The shots are fantastic. It’s an all around great film with one of the best soundtracks in history. It belongs in a museum where it will never be harmed.

Slow West 2015
Took a gamble on this film. The cast is there, but the first time director had me curious. I will HIGHLY recommend this film to a slew of fans: Fassbender fans, western fans, Wes Anderson fans (yes.... it has that kind of vibe, but not overly so that it feels like a rip off). The shots and contrast in this film are fantastic. I was completely in from the start and it has a gripping end.
