Maybe Fernanda Torres was robbed? What a fucking film, probably the best of 2024 in hindsight. A horrible reminder of what US-backed fascism inflicted on South America, not even 50 years ago in Brazil, and still lingering elsewhere. I’d be lying if I said the ending didn’t have me in tears too. Shot beautifully even in its horror. One of the best performances from a lead I’ve seen in my life, and one of the most inspiring people ever. RIP Rubens & Eunice Paiva.

Not watched something made by Netflix for a while given the absolute slop shite they’ve put out for the most part over the last few years, but this is brilliant. An extremely important, completely one-shot drama focusing on the extremism young men are faced with nowadays. Written exactly how this short of thing should be - not overly dramatic, but portraying very realistic interactions and relationships to highlight how possible this stuff is.
