    what a jazzy film! an anarchic story of the creation of the first Saturday Night Live.

    if you’re even partially immersed in the american cultural context of that era, familiar with Kaufman, know Carlin, and can laugh at his drug-induced strokes, this movie hits the mood perfectly.

    it’s packed with irresistibly attractive one-take shots. it feels like the chaotic energy of a kitchen scene (think The Bear), but this time it’s telling the story of one of the most legendary live shows ever!

    0ne of the best cult-themed films I’ve seen among the dozens I’ve managed to watch. it’s a beautifully orchestrated drug-induced choreography that puts a striking emphasis on expressing emotions without words - through movements, dances, thoughts, and… murders(?).

    I’m profoundly moved by films that can plunge you into that cathartic state after the credits roll. a space where you spend nearly 30 minutes trying to gather your thoughts and translate emotions into words.

    the dialogues (mostly monologues) in this film constantly branched out into new streams of thought in my mind. as the film progressed, I felt an ever-growing urge to pause it and discuss these moments with someone. throughout the entire movie, I wrestled with the desire to jot down my thoughts, record these exquisite lines somewhere, or just silence these swirling conversations in my head and simply enjoy.
