I loved the pacing of this one, very understated for a spy flick. Such a smart cast too. Also a new member of my favorite genre: unconventionally romantic

You could edit it a movie however you wanted in the 2000s and it’s honestly refreshing. Maybe every shot should look completely different from the last one! Maybe we should make all of it aesthetically jarring! Maybe we should have jeans so low cut that they defy the laws of physics! To be clear: I loved it

I loved the first part, but this part was pure, unadulterated, miserable Dune (in the best possible way). We see way more here that this is no honorable hero’s journey. And the Harkonnens are genuinely terrifying in a way that was verging on horror. All the performances were amazing, but Austin Butler really has the juice. Amazing, incredible time. The theater was the most packed I’ve seen in a while and everyone was standing around the lobby talking about it after. Made me misty-eyed that these giant worms are bringing us together at the theater again 🥲

This movie was so good, probably one of the best I’ve seen from last year. Such a nuanced story, it’s a shame it got reduced to discourse about whether men should make a film involving rape. Especially because that erases the work Holofcener did for this. Actually one of the very very few films I’ve come away from feeling they did that difficult subject justice. Jodie Comer is incredible as usual, and who knew Ridley Scott still had this in him?
