Insane. I was locked in the entire time.

Edited to a perfect pace — tight but not rushed. The characters are very well written (no surprise, they were written by Cormac McCarthy). This is definitely one of the movies you rewatch to absorb everything.

I think the most surprising element was how much it felt like a book — dense but not tedious. I haven’t read the book (yet), so I’m not sure if this was how it was written or if it was brilliant screenplay adaptation. Regardless, I think they captured McCarthy’s essence well.

No wonder it won Best Picture.

The cynical part of me doesn’t believe things like this can happen anymore, so this felt foreign to me — like a different planet or an alternate universe.

The character of Charles Embry was Lynchian beyond belief. I spent so much of the movie in suspense. The pacing of this movie was not my favorite.

That aside, Julia Roberts was an absolute tour de force. She commandeered every scene and was incredible each and every time. Shout out to the wardrobe department for some of the best outfits I’ve ever seen (George excluded).
