You could say that I kind of grew up with Transformers. I had the 1986 movie poster on my wall, I remember watching Beast Wars and Armada on TV on Saturday mornings, I saw the first four Bayverse Transformers movies in theatres on opening day, and I still listen to the original 1986 soundtrack when I need to drive somewhere fast. You could say that I still love it as much as someone could still love their childhood obsession.

I think as a superhero movie, it lacks the "wow" factor that can be found in a lot of the modern day Marvel/DC movies that are so popular. Mind you, I also love those movies, but I can see how this operates as a slower movie that requires you to engage more with in order to see the appeal. I enjoy the grimdark and morally grey decisions that are eventually brought to light, as well as the characters that are so disconnected from humanity but also add more humanity than a Marvel character could ever bring to a movie

Watched this with my girlfriend and her brother, since he's never watched it before. He's a big movie buff, so I was eager to see what he thought of one of my favorite movies

I wasn't as much of a movie fan as I am now, but I still loved movies nonetheless. As the years went on, this is one of those movies that is always going to be good and I'm willing to "watch", but usually as background noise. Watching it in Imax this time around made me realize…
