Even though the character is very different from Mr. Wick, the structure of the movie is pretty similar. The Monkey 2025
A solid movie. Personally, the comedy worked much better than the horror. Perhaps I shouldn't have watched the Instagram trailers, but I expected there to be a bit more mystery to the titular monkey. The movie is definitely scariest in the beginning, when you're wondering what the deal with this monkey is. Once the kills get rolling however, the fear factor drops off a bit. Assassination 2015
This is one of those action movies that excels because of its versatility. The action direction is solid, and while it's not anything you've never seen before, every combat encounter is elevated by the context of the action. The characters are very well written, adding further stakes to every shootout. Speaking of characters, this movie manages to fit two badass characters into a single film, with neither feeling forced. There is humor, there is heart, and there is a surprisingly emotional ending which ties everything together beautifully. I've watched this three times, with each viewing being a better experience than the last.

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf 2021
Don't worry about all the Witcher content you haven't consumed yet. Everything you need to know is presented quickly, and with exposition that never becomes obnoxious. That being said, I did go into this movie wanting certain things because I'd played the Witcher 3, and it definitely delivered. There's exciting action that actually benefits from being animated, a morally gray story, and the Witcher classic: racism and general bigotry. -2 stars for the cheap fan service at the end, +1 star back because the kid is bald.
