  The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes 2023

  Movie of the year.

  In terms of cinematography, characters, plot and themes, it excels beyond anything else in its genre. 
  With such high pressure to live up to that of which is produced within The Hunger Games cinematic universe, it truly went beyond expectation. 

  Growing up with dystopian and fantasy fiction, this fit right into my ideal of what a movie should be. Fantastic casting, paced out and efficient storytelling, and a thrilling conclusion. The musicality was a splendid bonus.

  Hoping for plenty more productions of this calibre.

  Pan's Labyrinth 2006

  A bizarrely fantastic film. Guillermo’s work connects the real and surreal and efficiently reflects one another while leaving room for further contemplation and real-world commentary. 

  I first watched Pan’s Labyrinth as a child, then again as a teenager, and once more as an adult. At every age I have interpreted it differently, yet the essence of it remains the same.
